One of the most well known French mints, an octagon shape that has been made in the city of Vichy since the 19th century. The chemist Jean-Pierre-Joseph d'Arcet, a member of the medical academy, figured a way to extract the active elements of the Vichy mineral waters. In 1825 Vichy's pharmacist, Bartillat, wanting to create a remedy for indigestion (or to help digestion) produced the first candy.
