Marmite Yeast Extract - 500g

Marmite Yeast Extract - 500g

The basic production method has changed little since Marmite was first invented. Basically, the used brewer's yeast is broken down to release soluble amino acids and proteins. This soluble material is then concentrated and filtered a few times before going through a unique (and top secret) process for flavour development. At the end of all this, we end up with yeast extract paste - nearly Marmite but not quite. The finishing touches make all the difference. We add an extra blend of vitamins, vegetable and spice extracts to create the taste your mouth adores!

5Delicious British treatOct 09, 2008
By G. M. Smith
I am told one must be British (or British-born, as I am) to enjoy Marmite. It is impossible for me to imagine not having it in the pantry and, thanks to Amazon, I am able to continue to indulge a lifetime's habit. It is especially good in a cheese sandwich - do try it.

5I love marmiteAug 07, 2009
By Lisa "boston's biggest baked bean"
I'm American and have never been to the UK. I don't even remember how or why I first tried Marmite. Years ago anyway. I love it. Loooooooooove it. If you like salty flavors and like chips over sweets, then you'll probably like this. Very salty and slightly meaty flavored. And it is vegan. My dad says it tastes like an old barn smells. He may be right. I guess I like the taste of an old barn.

5An acquired tasteFeb 12, 2009
By Bumble33 "Bumble33"
Well, I am neither British, nor British-born, but I absolutely love Marmite. It is an acquired taste and one that produces very strong reactions indeed! Their "Love It Or Hate It" ad says it all in fact. As a proof of this, I have two dogs: one loves marmite sandwiches, the other one starts sneezing when she feels the smell of it. My recipe for the perfect breakfast: marmite soldiers and soft boiled egg. Delicious!

5Mmm...the best!Jul 29, 2011
By Rupert Brice "rupe01"
Marmite has been one of the few things that i really missed, now i live in the USA. Luckily, through Amazon, I can now still enjoy it, shipped from Blighty! There's nothing like it! Great stuff! Very salty, with a strong beef extract flavor. Wonderful on toast!

5Mighty MarmiteMay 23, 2011
By Muir Gin
I have been eating Marmite all my life, I'm a Brit: and Marmite is part of my culture, American have Peanut Butter, and Brits have Marmite. I have made a few American friends MA's ( Marmite Aficionado's), once they have tried it, most are hooked, just remember, 'just a little dab will do you', now if only America could make a decent Marmalade !!!!!.
