Easy to use, efficient finger saverDec 02, 2010
By Rob in CM I ordered this because the small zester (the type with 4 small cutting circles) we had proved a miserable little failure when put to the Thanksgiving test. We needed to zest many lemons and limes, and it just sucked - slow, arduous, clumsy. We then used a Microplane at a relative's house, and were blown away by how fast it zested, but also by how dangerous zesting small limes with a Microplane can be. No kidding, for 4 limes, there were three cuts. So, the search was on for a "safe" zester that could work as efficiently as the Microplane. We found it with the Trudeau. The beauty is - you get the Microplane sharpness and speed, but you also get a rubber "foot" that can be braced against the counter top or a plate/bowl that lets use safely and quickly zest by moving the fruit, as opposed to holding the fruit and moving the zester. Obviously, you can also brace the Microplane, but it doesn't have a solid footing and slips around.

Covers all the basesSep 16, 2008
By Maro Riofrancos This is the best grater of this type I've ever used. Of course you take it for granted that it's laser-sharp. It has a built-in sliding cover for storage, not one that comes off and can be misplaced. The non-skid rubber foot is great--you wonder why others don't have it. Same for the whole for hanging. Plus it's beautiful-looking. BTW, it also is perfect for grating ginger.

does the job just fineJan 20, 2009
By KT This tool does a great job for the price. I use it mainly for zesting lemons. I like the safety cover and that the cutting blades are all on the front surface (some other models have poor reviews due to no cover and blades that curve around the side edge of the microplane, making it very easy to cut one's self.) The rubber tip is great for stabilizing on a surface. It zests lemons beautifully. I don't have problems with drying as one reviewer did. I dry it with a paper towel right after I wash it and leave the cover open to air dry the places I can't get my fingers in. I'm sure there is a better nicer zester out there, but for $10, this does the job just fine.

Great grater!Sep 09, 2009
By Penny Gardner Works beautifully. I like the compact size, and the safety cover - not for when using it, but when reaching into a drawer to retrieve it, it's not going to stick you! However, the one negative does pertain to the safety cover. When washing the grater, or when pulling the safety cover back, it's easy to take it too far. Then you have to manipulate a little "thingy" to get it back into position for it to slide back down. Nothing major, major. Just a little annoying. Other than that, it's a great product. (I like the colors, too.)

This one's a winner!Sep 04, 2009
By A. M. Miller It took a while to decide on this one and I'm so glad I did. It works very well on lemons, much better than two other graters I tried which seemed to just make a pulpy mess rather than zesting. As others have said, it has the protection and is sharp but the other thing I like is, it rests easily on top of pan or bowl where you want the zest to go, neatly adding the little bits directly to your mix and making transferring from cutting board to bowl unnecessary. It also works easily with garlic and ginger.
The shape is perfect for this. It's fun and easy to use and I recommend it highly.
